The Whispering Tree

Over the past six years, classically trained vocalist Eleanor Kleiner and French bassist Elie Brangbour have traveled the world on an adventure that began when the two met at the London Center of Contemporary Music in 2004. With a shared passion for music and travel, they took their unique brand of folk/rock across continents, logging enough frequent flier miles to make any avid traveler jealous. Full of imagery and stories of the human condition,The Whispering Tree’s songwriting is the backbone of their sound and has been heavily influenced by their travels abroad, which have taken them from South America to China. How fitting then that after all their travels, The Whispering Tree have made their permanent home in New York City, landing in a neighborhood as ethnically diverse as it comes: Astoria, Queens, New York, where they’ve completed their full-length album Go Call The Captain, set to hit stores in April 6th, 2010 on Modern Vintage Recordings.

Already making some noise, London Garcia (londongarcia.com) on LA Talk Radio said The Whispering Tree is “some of the best indie music coming out of New York right now.” They’ve been named finalists in the Songdoor International Songwriting Competition (www.songdoor.com) for their title song “Go Call the Captain,” for which they also received honorable mention in the 2009 New York Songwriter’s Circle Songwriting Competition.
