MVR signs Lisa Jaeggi

We recently signed the super talented Lisa Jaeggi to our roster.  Lisa’s effortless vocal/guitar style and sharp storytelling radiates cool. The part Swiss, part Japanese Brooklyn-based songwriter describes her style of music as skateboard acoustic soul.   The record is in the works, look for a single and video this fall with an album release in early 2011. Stay tuned….

MVR signs Sisters 3

We recently signed experimental folk group Sisters 3 based out of the Philly area. They have been on our radar for a while and we are proud to add them to our roster. The girls, Anna-Christie, Cassie and Bea are gearing up to cut their new record this Fall, which we think is going to crown them 2011 indie darlings. This band is loaded with talent and charm and we can’t wait put this record out.

moe. is very excited to announce the final lineup of artists for their annual Labor Day weekend festival, moe.down. Joining moe. will be: The Black Keys, Nas & Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Mike Gordon, Lotus, Jakob Dylan, Punch Brothers, Built to Spill, Tortoise, Ryan Montbleau Band, The Macpodz, The Brew, Turbine, Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds, Orgone, and Monkey Wrench.

This 3 day event has become known for its laid back vibe and great music, as well as its intimate and scenic setting. With only 2 stages, bands never overlap and patrons never miss a beat!

This year, moe.down has a new home in Mohawk, NY at Gelston Castle Estate. As in the past, the price of admission includes camping. A limited number of Early Bird Tickets are on sale now through moe.ticketing for $110.

moe.down has a history of bringing a diverse collection of artists to the festival over its 10 year history. Bands that have played in the past include The Flaming Lips, Perry Farrell’s Satellite Party, Cake, The Roots, Method Man and Redman, The Wailers, Ani DiFranco, Amos Lee, Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Avett Brothers and more.

moe. released Smash Hits, Volume 1 on the band’s Fatboy Records label on June 1st. The album celebrates moe.’s 20th anniversary and includes newly recorded fan favorites that encompass the band’s entire career.

Modern Vintage & Rebel Spirit Compilation

We have partnered up with Rebel Spirit Music to produce a 12 song compilation Album. Beginning next week we will be attending Rebel Spirit’s monthly series to check out who’s playing. One performer from each month will be selected to have a song recorded and produced by us. All production, distribution and promotion costs will be covered by Rebel Spirit Music + Modern Vintage Recordings.

Only artists who perform in the series are eligible to be chosen for the compilation album. Look out for Rebel Spirit Music on Sonicbids and submit for the series. Estimated release date, Jan 2011. Singles will be released monthly. Let the fun begin!
